New Records
We have one more update on team records to announce for this year. CONGRATULATIONS TO JORDAN KNAPPINS who set the Short Course team records in both the Girls 9-10 100 back with a great swim of 1:27.82 and 100 breast with a time of 1:41.17! Way to go JORDAN!!!
OK...I Lied...we have one more records update from the Time's A-Wastin' Invitational. CONGRATULATIONS TO THE FOLLOWING SWIMMERS:
A BIG WHOOOOO HOOOO to all our recordbreakers!!!
OK... It seems our team is not yet done breaking records! So I will not say this is the last.
At Silver champs TWO team records fell at the hands of Kelli Harrod and Marty Haas.
Kelli knocked over 3 seconds off her own 400IM record with a fantastic swim of 6:07.24!
Marty broke Michael Jones' FOUR YEAR OLD record in the 200 breast (well, broke isn't really the right word...SMASHED is more like it!) with a swim of 2:38.24, knocking over 8 seconds off the record!
CONGRATULATIONS TO KELLI & MARTY!
Next Year's Boosters
A great big "thank you" to David for all he's done to help make our organization the best it can be, and all he continues to do in negotiations for our next contract.
In an effort to better communicate (by "spreading the wealth") and improve the overall team experience, we have re-defined the Booster Positions, and we have a great team in place...Our Booster group will be:
Enter our T-shirt Contest
The Boosters have decided to hold a contest for the design of next year's Swim Team T-Shirt.
Draw out your design (as best you can) and put it (IN AN ENVELOPE) in Christina Moretti's mail box at the Nat. PLEASE don't forget to put your name on it.
Remember it is the design we are looking for, not an artist! So, even if you are not a great artist, but you have a great design idea, please enter the contest!
If you have questions, please email Christina at cmoretti@neo.rr.com
We would also like swimmer or parent suggestions for the inspirational saying that goes on the back of the t-shirt. Submit those ideas by April 1st to boosters@tsharkswimming.com (include the subject line "Inspirational Saying".) Coach Dale will be selecting the saying.
Zone Relays
Before we post the zone relays, I want to post something about relay selection...This time of year ALWAYS gets confusing for several families (and it confused me at first too.) I'm not sure this is going to come up, but if it does, I want everyone to be able to understand it.
All year, our relays are divided by age groups (8&under, 9/10, 11/12 and so forth.) At zones, they are still divided, but they are divided slightly differently. The first age group is 10 & under, then 11/12 and so forth.
What does this mean? Well, it basically means that the 2 age groups (9/10 & 8&under) can will be combined and sorted by age. Then the top times will be determined for what our "normal season" calls the 9/10 relays.
If you have any questions, please contact your coach.
Zones
The Great Lakes zone championship meet will be here before you know it! Several swimmers have qualified in individual events, and several relays have already qualified...we'll be looking for more GREAT swims at the League Meet.
This seems like a great time to remind parents and swimmers HOW the zone relays are selected. This is ALWAYS confusing. So, here goes:
If you have any questions, please talk to your coach.

We are holding our second annual Last Chance meet on Friday March 7th beginning at 3:30 (for distance events) and 5:00 for all other events & relays (flyer is posted on the League Website, or click here for flyer in .pdf format.) AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM COACH DALE.
TEAM OHIO What??? Team Ohio? What's team Ohio? Until this year, I had no idea, but here's the scoop!
Each year USA swimming has a Quad meet...Ohio and 3 other states. Each state puts together the BEST TEAM possible. Swimmers from all over Ohio apply for a chance to be chosen as one of the best in their age group. This year, we are very PROUD to announce that all THREE of our swimmers who applied were accepted! This is an unbelievable accomplishment and we send our CONGRATULATIONS and BEST WISHES to:
We'll miss you on January 5th at the Lake West meet, but wish you the very best at the Quad Meet! GO TEAM OHIO!

INVITATIONAL UPDATE & ESCROW ACCOUNTS CFYN Treasurer Update As the invitational season gets into full swing, there have been many questions about registering and paying for these events. INVITATIONAL REGISTRATION: All deadlines are posted on the meet information page. Please read the details about number of events your swimmers may swim for each invitational. This does change from meet to meet. All entries should be emailed to meetentry@tsharkswimming.com. It is important to send entries to this link, because several individuals are notified (meet secretary, head coach, team president). When the entry deadline has passed, Coach Dale will put relays together from the swimmers registered for that meet. Not all swimmers will swim relays. Coach Dale will compose as many relays as possible with the swimmers attending the event. You do not have to register your swimmer for relays. The team is paying for all relay events at invitationals this year. If you do not want your swimmer participating in relays, please note this on your registration e-mail. PAYMENT: In order to make payment easier for both swimmer families and the treasurer (Martin Haas), an escrow account can be established for each family. An initial payment (generally $50) will open the escrow account. This check should be made payable to CFYN. As invitationals are swum, the entry fees are deducted from this account. This way, you do not have to pay for each invitational separately. You may choose not to open an escrow account. In this case, you are expected to pay for each invitational at the time of registration. Again, this payment is made to CFYN. Checks can be sent to the treasurer in the following three ways.
If at any time you wish to have the balance in the escrow account returned, just ask the treasurer. We will allow the escrow accounts to go negative for a short time. Finally, the following families need to add money to their accounts (email Martin if you need details) Capriola Fenwick Kennedy Simpson Statton Wolfe
New Invitationals Added
We have added TWO new invitationals. A meet for 7th & 8th graders only (open to ALL 7th & 8th grade swimmers, NOT just USA) and AYF Aqua Speedway, which is a YMCA invitational.
Holiday Practice Changes
Check out the practice schedule for holiday changes.
REPORT CARDS ARE COMING HOME SOON! DON'T FORGET ABOUT OUR 3.0 & 4.0 CLUBS!
Every year, our Coaches recognize outstanding academic achievement of our swimmers at the end-of-year award ceremony. We have Swimmers achieving a GPA of 3.0 or above. If your child has a GPA of 3.0 or higher (O's, S's and other elementary grades count and can be converted!) bring a COPY of their report card to their coach.
A list of students will be posted on the bulletin board at the YMCA, and will be kept updated throughout the year.
More Team records up in smoke
Congratulations to Lauren Heller for breaking TWO more 9-10 Girls Team Records! At our Youngstown Dual meet, she shattered the prior 200 Free record with a time of 2:21.15! At the Battle of Lake Erie, she also broke the 50 back record with a great swim of 34.31!
This year's Individual & Team photos will be taken at the YMCA on November 17th. We will be on a tight schedule that day, as photos will be taken BEFORE meet warm-ups. INDIVIDUAL PHOTOS will begin at 12:30; TEAM photo will be at 2:30!
In order to keep things moving efficiently, please complete your ORDER FORM (in .pdf) and bring it with you, together with payment) on Photo Day.

Our boosters and head coach spent many hours studying the survey results. We are grateful to all of you who answered the survey. All comments and concerns (both positive and negative) that you have voiced have been heard.
We look forward to using your ideas to make our Tiger Shark team the better than ever before. In the next swimming season, look for a revised handbook, changes to the fundraising efforts, and a more clear way to communicate with the coaching staff. We will also be outlining relay selection procedures.
